So I actually decided on some bookcases from an IKEA near me; I’m glad it was right down the block from me.
I had a couple of ideas in mind. They were finally delivered and it was time to put my home idea to work and maximize the space that I had available.
I turned the bookcases on their side because it actually was more spacious for me than if I had used them upright. In addition, they were the perfect height for me to slide storage bins in and out of the spaces. I secured them together using some screws because I didn’t want them shifting around at all. Next, I bought a door that was void of handles and hinges and it worked perfectly as a countertop.
I brought out the power drill and secured the door to the bookcases with more screws and put a light stain on the surface of the door. The reason I had to use the screws was that the bookcases had a laminate on it and glue just wouldn’t cut it! After everything was where it needed to be, I still felt it looked bland, all that white you know?
Well, some purple colored duct tape fixed that! It was used it as a piping around the table top (former door) and it completed the look. All the work that was done was worth it, I accomplished my goal and the room looks clean and organized now. It’s a great space saver and it’s also multi-use. I have definitely outdone myself with this one!
